The Cost of Cancer - Part IV - The Max Gerson Cancer Protocol

A Natural Cancer Program with Juicing, Raw Diet and Coffee Enemas

The Gerson cancer protocol is a very good plan if you stick with the whole program.  You should not try to do this program on your own and you must have proper guidance to succeed success.  They report a 50% success rate among all their candidates.  This is a high ratio for most of these programs, however Nigella Sativa reports an 83% success rate among pancreatic cancer tumors, which is the worse cancer there is.

This review will show you the different juicers needed, the supplements suggested.  Where to purchase the supplements and the hospitals and clinics where to get the best guidance.  There are many forums and websites with help if you cannot afford the hospitals located in Mexico and Hungary.

The Max Gerson Protocol for Cancer

One of the leading alternative cancer programs by Max Gerson. It uses a basic healthy raw diet with many enemas and supplements. The use of organic foods is required.

A commonly discussed cancer treatment is the Gerson plan. The Gerson Plan uses many organic juices, supplements, special diet and coffee enemas in their program. It is a holistic program that has been in use for many years. The purpose and basis of the diet is to clean the liver of all toxins and increase the metabolism.
According to the Gerson website, "Patients report that the enemas decrease pain and hasten healing.

Biologically, enzyme systems of the gut wall and liver are stimulated, and bile flow is increased. This has been shown to enhance the body's ability to eliminate toxic residues from environmental, chemotherapeutic, and other sources."

The basic theory on the diet is that the salt and potassium levels are not in balance with the cancer patient. By utilizing the supplements and program to include liver injections, the body would be clear of all toxins. Environmental toxins affect the entire body.

The Gerson Diet Protocol

The diet is rich in vitamins, minerals, enzymes, micro-nutrients, and low in fats, salts and contain many fluids.
Example of a daily regimen:
  • Thirteen glasses of fresh, raw carrot/apple and green-leaf juices prepared hourly from fresh, organic fruits and vegetables.
  • Three full vegetarian meals, freshly prepared from organically grown fruits, vegetables and whole grains. A typical meal will include salad, cooked vegetables, baked potatoes, vegetable soup and juice.
The patient is allowed all the organic fruits and vegetables that they desire for snacking or added to their meal plan.

Medications for the Implementing of the Treatment

All the medications are available through the center if not available locally. They are classified as biologicals. They are organic and used in therapeutic amounts as prescribed by the program.
Suggested Companies Carrying their Supplements and their Products: Suppliers

The patient must juice 20 pounds of organic fruits and vegetables each day and some of that may be cooked and eaten raw. The fruits and vegetables must be organic. The plan must be followed exactly to get results, according to the Gerson center.

Currently, the only Gerson clinics are in Mexico and Hungary, and the cost is quite expensive. Many patients do this protocol at their own home. Gerson does offer a home therapy program, but many sites on the Internet offer much support for less money.

Cost of  the Gerson Medical Facilities

Staying at one of the hospitals is not cheap.  The cost is $5995 per week and a minimum of two weeks is required and three weeks is recommended.  So for three weeks at the hospital in Mexico, you can expect a total cost of $18,000.

What if I cannot afford to come to the clinic?

Phone consultations cost $750 for up to 5 hours and you may be required to purchase their at home package, books and DVDS.  All these materials cost $120 in addition to the $750 consultaion.  A 3 month supply of coffee, supplements, juicer and other materials can cost from $2000 - 2500.  Making this the most expensive protocol available so far in my reviews.

Gerson on the Budwig Flax Seed Diet

Originally Gerson did not allow the flax seed oil.  He tried many oils and found them all to be harmful to cancer patients.  He found out about Dr. Johanna Budwig and found the flax seed oil to be very beneficial.

What he did is to start adding 2 tablespoons of flax seed oil to his salads and later found that this was too much.  He then switched to adding 1 tablespoon and found that to be optimum.

All flax seed oil must be cold and cold pressed.  Flax seed oil must be kept in the refrigerator and preferably in a dark bottle. Each time the refrigerator is opened and light hits the oil, it becomes less viable.  Flax seed oil is known to improve the immune system.

According to Healing Cancer Naturally, "On page 147 of the book The Gerson Therapy published in 2001, Dr Max Gerson's daughter Charlotte Gerson makes the following statement "Dr. Gerson placed much value on the work of German lipid researcher Johanna Budwig, Ph.D. who recommended flax oil enemas in colon cancer and bowel obstruction.”

More information on flax oil provided by Charlotte Gerson: Dr Gerson had created outside tumors on some rats. Every oil he fed them made the tumors grow."

The Whole Gerson Plan
One of the problems many face with this program is the cost of the juicer or blender. The price of a suggested juicer is expensive, but necessary to complete the program. A link for a discussion on the blenders is here: Gerson Juicers
